The forward pulled out of the Europa League game with Bordeaux with a foot injury.
The striker is arguably the best striker on the books at Anfield, having shown his qualities repeatedly when featuring for the side.
The problem, though, is that getting him fully fit and into the first team has been something of a rarity.
In fact, during his time in the North West, Sturridge has managed just 70 appearances; he has missed 68 games through injury.
He was absent for most of last season, and is yet to feature under new manager Jurgen Klopp this season, with his last appearance coming in the 1-1 draw with Everton which proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Brendan Rodgers.
The German had been hoping to have his star man back for the Europa League tie with Bordeaux on Thursday evening, but alas it was not to be as his forward picked up another knock.
This time it is a foot injury, according to the Daily Mail, and Liverpool fans have responded with widespread dismay at yet another potential spell on the side-lines for him.

We all love Sturridge. And we feel sorry for him but he has become a burden for our club. We need a striker who'll stay fit and score goals— Shadab Monjur (@Liverpool_World) November 26, 2015
About time Liverpool start paying Sturridge when he plays!!— Tom Kaarby (@brannandlfc) November 26, 2015
Daniel Sturridge! Probably the most expensive squad player in Liverpool's history!— RoboKlopp (@avkopite) November 26, 2015
