Leeds United's away form is the fifth best in the Championship

Leeds United's home form is substantially worse than their away form - but did you realise just how good they have been on their travels?

Much has been made of Leeds United's struggles to win at Elland Road this season.

They have recorded just one victory in front of their home support, a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City earlier this month.

Somewhat inevitably they followed this up with a loss to Rotherham United, indicating their poor form at the stadium has not been suddenly fixed.

By contrast their away form has been impressive, so good in fact that it is up there with the very best in the division.

Data from Whoscored.com ranks Leeds United's record away from home this season as fifth in the Championship.

This involves three wins, four draws, and only one defeat from eight games on the road, dare we say it, play-off form.

The real problem comes back at Elland Road, where their record is the 23rd best in the Championship out of 24 teams, with only Rotherham collecting one point fewer than the six Leeds have amassed.

Oddly this is very much the opposite of how Leeds started last season, when it was their away form letting them down.

This time around the Whites have been easy pickings for travelling teams at Elland Road, and their excellent away record only underlines how frustrating their home form is.

Had they been able to put the two together then a play-off run would seem realistic. At this point with the club sitting 16th in the league, until they begin making their home ground a fortress again it is tough to see them achieving their goals.
