Jamie Vardy heaps praise on Leicester City teammate Danny Drinkwater

Leicester City currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after 13 matches.

Jamie Vardy has told Sky Sports that Danny Drinkwater is Leicester City’s puppet master, due to his ability to dictate the tempo of their play.

Drinkwater has been a revelation for Leicester so far this season, with his partnership alongside N’Golo Kante earning a lot of praise.

And Vardy was keen to praise the former Manchester United man’s passing ability.

“Drinky is like the puppet master, he wants to pull all the strings and it works for us,” Vardy said. “He's brilliant on the ball, has great vision for a pass.”

Vardy has taken much of the acclaim for Leicester’s form so far this season, due to his own goalscoring run.

The 28-year-old has now scored in 10 consecutive Premier League matches, and he tops the goalscoring charts in England’s top flight.

Vardy’s goals have helped elevate Leicester to the top of the Premier League standings, but he has been keen to deflect some credit towards his teammates.

Drinkwater’s improvement have been highly impressive too, as the central midfielder’s future at the King Power Stadium was in doubt last summer.

After the additions of Kante and Gokhan Inler, Drinkwater’s first team chances appeared limited, but he has forced his way into the line-up, and now has established his place in Claudio Ranieri’s starting team.
