James Vaughan has said that joining Birmingham City - his home-town club - is a dream come true, after his loan move to St. Andrews was announced this afternoon.
Vaughan has joined Birmingham on loan from Huddersfield Town until January, and he is delighted with the move.
The former Norwich City striker went straight to social media to say that he couldn’t wait to get started with the Blues, where he will be looking to rediscover his optimum form.
So happy to have signed on loan for @BCFC dream come true. Can't wait to get started— James Vaughan (@vaughany08) November 26, 2015
Vaughan has proved before that he can be a prolific scorer at Championship level, but he has struggled of late for form and fitness.
The 27-year-old has only scored twice in his last 16 appearances for Huddersfield across the last two seasons, and he has fallen out of first team contention as a result.
Vaughan will hope that a move to some new surroundings can spark him back to life, though, and he is likely to have a big role to play for Birmingham.
Gary Rowett’s side are short of options up front, following an injury Clayton Donaldson, and they will be looking to Vaughan to spearhead their attack.
As things stand, Birmingham are in sixth place in the Championship table, and their next match comes against unbeaten Brighton & Hove Albion.
