Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has written in The London Evening Standard that he almost fell asleep during Monday night’s Premier League game between Crystal Palace and Sunderland.
The former West Ham United boss has spoken highly of Barcelona and their style of football, and has compared it to the football on show at Selhurst Park.
“Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Roma was an incredible result,” Redknapp wrote in The London Evening Standard. “Their forwards produce the kind of football the game is all about.
“I watched Crystal Palace versus Sunderland on Monday and it was enough to send me to sleep but then you watch Barcelona play and it restores your faith in the game.”
Barcelona are arguably the best team to watch in the world at the moment, and their results over the past few days have been superb.
The Blaugrana defeated Real Madrid 4-0 away from home at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga this past weekend.
Then on Tuesday evening, the Spanish giants hammered Italian outfit AS Roma 6-1 at Camp Nou in the Champions League.
While the Premier League game between Palace and Sunderland on Monday was far from entertaining, Redknapp is a bit harsh in his comments.
After all, neither Palace nor Sunderland have the quality of players that Barcelona do.
Moreover, the Black Cats are struggling for survival in the Premier League, and they are not going to play pretty football.
