Mauro Zarate could be in line to replace Dimitri Payet at West Ham United.
Charlie Nicholas has said on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on November 21st, that West Ham United attacker Mauro Zarate has a big opportunity at the club, due to an injury to Dimitri Payet.
Payet is expected to be out for three months, and it means that Slaven Bilic will need to find a new architect for his side.
Payet has been West Ham’s main source of creativity so far this season, but Nicholas believes Zarate could have a chance of filling the void that the Frenchman’s absence leaves.
"I think it’s a big opportunity for Zarate," he said. "People are going to come in and play that type of role. He might not be as hard a worker [as Payet], but he’s good on the ball."
Zarate’s time at West Ham appeared to be coming to an end towards the back end of last season, but it seems that Bilic has been impressed by the Argentine.
The 28-year-old has come back into first team contention under Bilic, and he has already made 14 appearances so far this season.
Zarate’s form has generally been good when he has been given an opportunity, and he has netted four times so far.
Zarate has scored in West Ham’s successes over Chelsea and Arsenal, and he will be hoping to prove his class over the coming weeks.
West Ham's next match comes against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon.
