Nigel Adkins face said it all as Sheffield United's promotion hopes took a huge dent - losing 4-2 at home to Shrewsbury Town.
The Blades now sit 12th in the League One table, six points back from the play-offs, but it was the manner of the defeat rather than the consequences which is most worrying.
United were too easily opened up by Shrewsbury, who are 18th in the league, with ex-Rangers man Ian Black and Crystal Palace loanee Sullay Kaikai inspiring the comprehensive win.
Shrewsbury had gone 4-1 up by the 48th minute, and displayed a ruthless edge, scoring with four of their five shots on target on the night, while United were more wasteful netting with two of their seven.
Sheffield United came into the season with high hopes after appointing Nigel Adkins, who had helped Southampton rise through the divisions to the Premier League.
Their defeat caused no end of amusement for fans of rivals Sheffield Wednesday, currently in the hunt for the play-offs in the Championship, and they took to Twitter to mercilessly mock the Blades' plight...
