The Brazilian put in a top display in the 4-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.
The Brazilian has endured a difficult start to life in England since his big money move from Hoffenheim in the summer.
He was struggling to find his form under former manager Brendan Rodgers, with several niggling injuries having hampered his progress.
He has started to show his best form since Jurgen Klopp took charge though, with his display against Manchester City on Sunday one of his best so far.
He had a goal and an assist to his name in that game, as well as forcing Eliaquim Mangala into scoring an own goal to open the Reds scoring in the game.
And Lovren has backed him to get better for the side, saying he has great talent.
“Roberto is growing, we need to give him time as he’s settling into a new country,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“But he has great talent. We see it every day in training and now we’re seeing it in the matches. He’s an unbelievable player. He has so much skill. He has so much potential and I know he’s going to get better and better for us.”
Given how well Firmino played in the City game, it seems that he could indeed have a bright future at Anfield.
The system that Klopp decided to employ in that game was one that clearly suited him, with Adama Lallana and Philippe Coutinho starring alongside him.
With Liverpool currently short on goal scorers, that could be a niche for him to fill if he can continue to perform as he did against Pellegrini’s side.
For now, he should simply focus on picking up his form after a disappointing start to life in England.
