Wiggins only signed for Wednesday during the summer transfer window, but he has made a slow start to life at Hillsborough.
The left-back has made just six appearances for the Owls so far, but Carvalhal has praised the former Charlton Athletic man’s ability.
“Rhoys is a fantastic player and personality,” Carvalhal said. “He is a person that we trust a lot.
“We are happy with all of the team. They like to be at Sheffield Wednesday and that is important as they come to training happy.
“They are enjoying the atmosphere we have created in the club.”
Wiggins’ chances of playing for Wednesday have not been aided by untimely injury he has picked up of late.
He will have a tough task breaking back into the Owls’ first team, too, as their form is so strong at the moment.
Wednesday have lost just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions, and they have moved into promotion contention in the Championship as a result.
At the moment, Wednesday are just two points adrift of the play-off places, and their next fixture comes against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
