Brighton and Hove Albion in pole position to sign Richie Towell as 27-goal midfielder rejects Turkey and Poland moves

The former Celtic youngster has impressed in the League of Ireland.

Brighton and Hove Albion are believed to be in the running for Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell. The League of Ireland player of the year is a former Celtic trainee who has just come off the back of an incredible campaign in Irish football.

He has been linked with Brighton by RTE Sport today, who he also told he had rejected offers from clubs in Turkey and Poland.

He is said to have his eyes on a Championship club and Brighton would be a great location for him to try and get into the English game.

A former Celtic youngster the Irishman went back to his homeland with Dundalk in 2013. A former Ireland Under-21 international, he is yet to make his mark for the senior side and a move to England might just be the key to making it into the Ireland national set-up.

Towell has certainly demonstrated his ability this season. The midfielder has mustered an immense 27 goals in 38 games from midfield, helping his side win the Irish Premier Division and FA Cup this year.

His contract is up and he is available for free and Championship clubs should be scrambling to gamble on the talents of this midfield operator.
