West Ham United defender James Tomkins loves working with Slaven Bilic

Slaven Bilic has guided West Ham United into sixth place in the Premier League table.

James Tomkins has told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on November 21st, that West Ham United’s squad are loving working with Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian boss took over at Upton Park in the summer, and he has made a big impact.

Bilic has got West Ham playing a very exciting brand of football, and Tomkins says that everyone at the club has really taken to the former Besiktas boss’s style.

“We’re trying to play out a lot more than we were last year, and the manager has been brilliant with that,” Tomkins said.

“The lads have really taken to him, and he’s someone who you can go and approach.

“He’s easy to talk to. He’s very emotional and very passionate and sometimes at half-time when you feel that something hasn’t gone right, he’ll tell us. It’s nice to know.

“We’re still getting used to each other, but everyone has taken to him.”

Bilic has enhanced West Ham’s attacking threat considerably, but their form has dipped slightly in recent weeks.

The Hammers are now winless in three matches, and they have looked off the pace.

A 2-0 defeat against Watford on their travels was followed up with a more encouraging 1-1 draw with Everton, but Tottenham Hotspur hammered them in their latest outing.

West Ham still sit in sixth position in the Premier League table, but if they are to keep that place they will need to get back to their best again very quickly.
