Watmore played half an hour in another promising cameo appearance for Sunderland.
Young Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore continues to impress during his cameo appearances, at least judging by last night's reaction from fans on Twitter.
Watmore was introduced during the second half on the hour mark in place of Sebastian Larsson and predominantly operated on the flanks.
Though there were the odd naive moments from the 21-year-old in possession, there were times when he really stretched the Crystal Palace defence and delivered a couple of threatening deliveries that led to some opportunities - including one that ought to have been taken when Yann M'Vila forced a save from Wayne Hennessey
The Black Cats ultimately came away from Selhurst Park with a 1-0 win thanks to Jermain Defoe capitalising on an awful mix-up between Scott Dann and Hennessey to pull the side to within a point of safety.
It's not the first time Watmore has shown signs of promise this season having already found the net on a couple of occasions in all competitions, but shown that he can make a real impact on his side, providing that go-forward that his side needs at times in order to take the game to the opposition, and has proved he can be difficult to knock off the ball.
Here is a flavour of what a few fans had to say on twitter about one of their most promising prospects:
