Leonardo Ulloa has told Leicester City’s official website that he is hoping to have an extended run of games in the first-team after netting his maiden goal of the season against Newcastle United.
Ulloa finished last season as Leicester’s top scorer, but he hasn’t had much of a look in under Claudio Ranieri.
However, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man was handed a start against Newcastle – and he took his opportunity well.
Ulloa scored one of Leicester’s goals in their impressive 3-0 victory at St. James’ Park, and the powerful forward is hoping that he has done enough to keep his place.
“It gives me more confidence now," he said. "Always I am looking for the chance to play and I got the chance. I could score the goal and that gives me more confidence.
“I have to keep training the same and I hope I continue to get the opportunity to play. My mentality and the group mentality is very strong, very good.”
Ulloa’s struggles to break into Leicester’s team have stemmed from their brilliant form over the campaign so far.
The Foxes have scored with eye-catching frequency this season, and Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki have both been excellent.
Leicester’s next match comes against Manchester United, and a win in that fixture would strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.
