HITC Sport understands former Chelsea youngster Conor Clifford is a target for a number of clubs in the January transfer window.
Gillingham, Stevenage and Barnet are among a number of clubs tracking former Chelsea starlet Conor Clifford, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential deal.
Clifford is currently plying his trade at National League side Boreham Wood, and their captain has caught the eye this season with a number of outstanding performances.
The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in 2009 after being spotted playing in his native Dublin and was tipped for a big future at Stamford Bridge.
After captaining Chelsea to FA Youth Cup success in 2010, Clifford spent most of his time at Chelsea out on loan, taking in spells at Plymouth Argyle, Notts County, Yeovil Town, Portsmouth and Crawley Town.
Clifford left Chelsea for Leicester City in 2013 without making a first-team appearance for the Blues, but his spell with the Foxes proved short-lived.
The all-action midfielder moved to Southend in the summer of 2013 and after a spell on loan at Barnet last season, he was released by Southend over the summer.
Scouts from Football League clubs have been keeping tabs on Clifford's progress at Boreham Wood, though, and Gillingham, Stevenage and Barnet are all weighing up potential moves for the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international in the New Year.
