Amid all the Mauricio Pochettino hype, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rohan Ricketts has praised Tim Sherwood.
Pochettino has earned great credit for guiding Spurs into top-four contention this season, while playing a number of young players.
However, Ricketts feels that Sherwood’s influence shouldn’t be forgotten – as he was the man who started putting Tottenham’s youngsters into the starting line-up.
There are also other individuals at @SpursOfficial that deserve credit but those two are those who started actually putting the kids in.— Rohan Ricketts (@RohanRicketts) November 22, 2015
Sherwood was only in charge of Tottenham for a brief spell at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, but during that time he did help the development of some of Spurs’ brighter youth prospects.
Sherwood exposed the likes of Harry Kane and Nabil Bentaleb to first-team football during his charge at White Hart Lane, and the pair have become key players since.
Pochettino has benefitted from the youngsters’ progression under Sherwood, and he has helped them thrive even further.
Tottenham are now unbeaten in 12 matches, and they are in fifth place in the Premier League table.
