Paul Hart comments on Bianchi's and Sloth's absence from Leeds U21s

Elland Road

Two of Leeds United's under-21 regulars did not feature this week.

Leeds United’s under-21 coach Paul Hart has been speaking to the club’s official Twitter account after his side lost 2-0 to their Nottingham Forest counterparts on Monday afternoon.

Second-half goals from Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel and Jack Kelly gave Forest the victory but Hart took some positives from the game, not least the effort his players showed.

There were some very interesting team selections from Leeds with Sam Byram and Lee Erwin starting the match but no place for recent under-21 regulars Tommaso Bianchi and Casper Sloth.

The latter in particular has featured regularly at that level, somewhat frustratingly given his talent and work ethic, but he was nowhere to be seen on Monday, something Hart addressed after the full-time whistle.

When asked if Sloth’s and Bianchi’s absence was merely a case of rotation to allow other first-team players to get some much-needed minutes Hart said, “I would think that was the case to give people time to catch up on game-time.”

Only time will tell what the future holds for Sloth and Bianchi, but while the latter may ultimately fight his way back into the first-team fold after a spell out injured the Danish midfielder will surely have to move on to get regular senior football.
