Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier said on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (November 21) that he is amazed at the transformation of Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela.
“When he first came over here, he wouldn’t say boo to a goose,” said Le Tissier. “He would jump out of the way of a tackle.
“Now all of a sudden you find a guy who has come with a reputation of a flair player throw himself into tackles, put himself about, and he has been a changed player.”
Lamela, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, has been in good form so far this season and is certainly playing an important role for Tottenham.
The 23-year-old former River Plate man has a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 56%, and has won two headers, 12 dribbles and 21 tackles.
During the 2014-15 campaign, Lamela scored two goals and created 60 chances in 33 Premier League matches.
Lamela had a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won six headers, 55 dribbles and 65 tackles.
