Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning that Aston Villa manager Remi Garde should not tinker with his team.
“I think he (Garde) has got to find a way of playing and a team and give it a go,” said Murphy. “If you keep swapping week in and week out… I mean, they drew 0-0 with Manchester City in his first game and then there were four changes (against Everton).”
While former Liverpool and Tottenham man Murphy does have a point, one needs to remember that Garde has been in charge of Villa for just a few days.
The Frenchman is still getting to know his players, and it could take him some time to decide on his best team.
Moreover, team selection also depends on the opposition, and given that Garde is tactically shrewd, he will probably set his side according to his opponents.
Under Garde, Villa picked up an encouraging point against Manchester City at Villa Park just before the international break.
Villa are at the foot of the league table at the moment with just five points from 13 matches, five points behind 17th-place Newcastle United.
