Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rotherham United at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Leeds United striker Chris Wood has played down teammate Gaetano Berardi’s dismissal against Rotherham United on Saturday, according to quotes published in The Yorkshire Evening Post.
“That’s football for you,” said Wood. “Everyone gets a bit hot-headed at times.”
Berardi started the Championship game between Leeds and Rotherham and was expected to be a key player.
The 27-year-old defender has been one of the best players for the Whites so far this season, but he turned from hero to villain on Saturday afternoon.
The Switzerland international right-back was show a straight red card in the 74th minute after a fracas, with Rotherham’s Leon Best also dismissed.
Leeds failed to make it three wins in a row in the Championship, as they lost Saturday’s game 1-0 at Elland Road.
Joe Newell’s headed goal in the 54th minute proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Leeds are 16th in the Championship table at the moment with 19 points from 17 matches, just four points above the relegation zone.
