93% pass-accuracy, 10 duels won: Manuel Lanzini impresses for West Ham despite defeat

West Ham Upton Park

The West Ham United loanee did his best against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

West Ham United may have suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but Hammers fans can at least take comfort in the performance of their young Argentine Manuel Lanzini.

The 22-year-old is getting better and better as he continues his loan spell at Upton Park, and while his late goal against Spurs was a mere consolation it was yet another sign that West Ham could have a future superstar on their hands…provided they secure a permanent deal as expected this summer.

Lanzini scored one goal, played one key pass to set up a chance for a teammate and he has a very impressive passing accuracy of 93 per cent.

Considering West Ham were often overrun by Tottenham’s direct play, that speaks volumes about Lanzini’s confidence on the ball in the face of such pressure.

The midfielder also recovered the ball eight times, went on nine dribbles and won 10 duels.

In short he did everything in his power to earn his side a victory, and while he fell short, expect him to be on the winning side more often than not in the weeks ahead.
