West Brom to bid £7m for Matt Phillips - report

The Queens Park Rangers midfielder is reportedly in the Baggies’ sights.

West Brom are ready to bid £7 million for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Matt Phillips according to The Mirror, with the Baggies looking to land the Scottish star in January.

The Midlands-based outfit were thought to be interested in the 24-year-old back in the summer, but Tottenham’s pursuit of Saido Berahino and subsequent failure to pay his asking price ended the chance of Phillips moving to The Hawthorns.

With the market set to reopen in the new year, Tony Pulis’ men are believed to be ready to rekindle their interest in the versatile attacker.

The Mirror state that a bid of £7 million may well be enough to convince the Championship outfit to sell Phillips, who has 18 months left on his current contract at Loftus Road.

The former Blackpool winger has scored four times and created two assists this season for QPR, playing every game in 2015-16 for the London club so far.

Phillips was an impressive member of the R’s side that got relegated last term, creating a host of goals for his team in the second half of the campaign.
