Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele says he has no plans to leave the club when quizzed on the rumours linking him with an exit last summer, the Daily Mail report.
However, it could have been different for Dembele as rumours circulated of a possible exit plus a potential switch to fellow London outfit Chelsea, as per a report in The Sun.
Speaking to reporters on his present situation, the 28-year-old assured that leaving never crossed his mind and his focus now is on staying with Spurs and pushing them forwards.
“I am not looking to leave Tottenham, I just want to be important for the team at the moment,” he said.
Dembele is largely expected to feature for Spurs when they take on rivals West Ham United at White Hart Lane later today, a game which could propel either side closer to the top four.
The Spurs midfield has been of great debate in recent weeks following the introduction of Dele Alli and Eric Dier, and one has to wonder where Dembele fits in to it all.
The former Fulham ace has all the attributes needed to play as a powerful box-to-box midfielder though some prefer him to play a little further forward, getting the most out of his attacking instincts.
His versatility makes him a valuable member of the squad, and an improvement in his consistency levels could see him push his teammates close for the major end-of-season honours next May.
