According to a report from the Daily Star Sunday Tottenham Hotspur will make a move for Alexandre Pato if they miss out on West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino in January.

The report claims Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to bring the England under-21 striker to White Hart Lane, but that the Brazilian sharp-shooter is a viable contingency plan if he does not get his wish.

Tottenham could do with additional fire-power even with the recent additions of Heung-Min Son and Clinton N’Jie as they seek to maintain their brilliant start to the campaign.

In other news, Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has praised the current Tottenham squad and hinted that Champions League qualification is a distinct possibility.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Belgium international said, “This is the best team I’ve played in since I’ve been at Tottenham.

“We know we have a lot of quality and we’re closer than previous years (to reaching Europe’s prestigious club competition).”

Dembele has played a key role for Tottenham so far this season and he is expected to maintain his place when Spurs take on West Ham United in a huge clash this afternoon.
