The Red Devils may have splashed out to land French sensation Anthony Martial from Monaco over the summer, but manager Louis van Gaal is still suffering a striker crisis right now.
With Martial out injured, Wayne Rooney ill and Marouane Fellaini also out with a knock, United were forced to use winger Memphis Depay up front on his own against Watford, with youngsters James Wilson and Marcus Rashford the only available alternatives to Van Gaal.
It would therefore be little surprise to see the Dutchman look to add one more forward to his attacking options in January, and The Sun believe that West Brom's Saido Berahino will be targeted.
The 22-year-old hit 20 goals in all competitions for the Baggies last season, and interest in his signature sparked over the summer - but as reported by Sky Sports, West Brom rejected a total of four bids from Tottenham for the striker.
Reports from the Daily Star last week suggested that Spurs are still interested in Berahino, and Newcastle United are also willing to fight for his signature.
However, The Sun now report that Manchester United could look to hijack their Premier League rivals by moving for Berahino in January, as the Red Devils desperately search for an attacking spark this season - and Berahino's pace could make him an attractive option.
