Raheem Sterling endured a night to forget as his former club Liverpool hammered Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.
Eliaquim Mangala's early own goal put Liverpool ahead after fine work from Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino down the left hand side, before Firmino crossed for Coutinho to sweep home a second.
Firmino then tapped home from Coutinho's pass with the Brazilian duo running rings around the City defence, but Sergio Aguero did pull a goal back for City before the break.
However, defender Martin Skrtel swooped to smash home a powerful shot from the edge of the box, handing Jurgen Klopp's men a thumping victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Before kick off, much of the build-up was surrounding Raheem Sterling and his first meeting with Liverpool since leaving Anfield for Manchester City over the summer.
The England international was virtually anonymous throughout as Liverpool defended well to shackle him in front of goal, and his emotions after the game were clear to see.
The photos below show Sterling clearly dejected at such a heavy loss, and he had to look on whilst his former Liverpool team-mates celebrated - but he did share a handshake with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
