Leeds United lost 1-0 to Rotherham United on Saturday but what did Whites' fans make of Scott Wootton's contribution?
Leeds United headed into their Championship match with Rotherham United this weekend full of confidence having defeated Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town prior to the international break, but Steve Evans’ side could not make it three competitive wins on the bounce.
Leeds lost 1-0 to the Championship’s then-bottom club and saw Gaetano Berardi sent off for his part in a fracas with the Millers’ recent addition Leon Best.
Leeds could have climbed into the top half of the table with a victory but as it is they slipped to 16th with 19 points from 17 matches.
Scott Wootton once again played at right-back in place of Sam Byram, who had to make do with a place on the bench, and that was the topic of some debate on social media after Leeds’ latest defeat.
Wootton had been part of the defence that kept consecutive clean sheets against Cardiff and Huddersfield but they could not make it three in a row.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Leeds fans thought of Wootton’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
The fact Wootton is starting ahead of Sam Byram pains me.— Jamie O'Neill (@JamieONeill88) November 22, 2015
Wootton is definitely in my top 3 of worst ever #lufc players I've ever seen. HE PLAYS OVER BYRAM.— Daniel Fieldhouse (@Fieldhouse7) November 22, 2015
Why Wootton wasn't taken off today I'll never know the fella must be the worse RB in memory if Byrams been naughty why not put him on the— Kenneth Roy Brown (@kennybrown1964) November 21, 2015
Naughty step &put Coyle on instead if Sam going why not play him if he does ok then we get more money but we won't get much leaving him out— Kenneth Roy Brown (@kennybrown1964) November 21, 2015
Not sure how we lost that game but both teams were dreadful and the standard of football was embarrassing. Scott Wootton - WTF?? #lufc— Raymond Hankin (@raymondhankin) November 21, 2015
Too many long balls. Not enough players want the ball, Mowatt isn't a wide player and Scott Wootton will never, ever be a right back. #lufc— Lowfields Road (@lowfields_road) November 21, 2015
You think this is bad, just wait for Scott Wootton at left-back #lufc— Tom Raynor (@TOMLUFC1995) November 21, 2015
