Former West Ham United prospect Hogan Ephraim has suggested on social networking site Twitter that a top-four club in the Premier League should have moved for Toby Alderweireld in the summer transfer window.
Alderweireld joined Tottenham from Spanish club Atletico Madrid, having played on loan for Southampton last season.
The Belgium international, who is versatile enough to play as a right-back, a centre-back or a defensive midfielder, has been superb so far this season.
The 28-year-old was brilliant against West Ham this evening, as Tottenham eased past their London rivals 4-1 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.
Former West Ham prospect Ephraim, who is without a club at the moment, was impressed with Alderweireld’s performance against the Hammers.
Amazed a few of the top 4 didn't go in for Toby. He's a very good defender (which the top 4 aren't blessed with) and £11m is change to them— Hogan Ephraim (@HoganEphraim) November 22, 2015
Spurs best 45 mins of season, pace & power, passing early & quickly - Hammers lucky to be only 2 down— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) November 22, 2015
If this was a fight the ref would stop it to save Hammers further punishment !! 3-0 could be 6-1 !!— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) November 22, 2015
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 13 matches, just two points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
