Former West Ham prospect makes an observation about Tottenham defender

Toby Alderweireld

Tottenham Hotspur defeated West Ham United 4-1 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League this evening.

Former West Ham United prospect Hogan Ephraim has suggested on social networking site Twitter that a top-four club in the Premier League should have moved for Toby Alderweireld in the summer transfer window.

Alderweireld joined Tottenham from Spanish club Atletico Madrid, having played on loan for Southampton last season.

The Belgium international, who is versatile enough to play as a right-back, a centre-back or a defensive midfielder, has been superb so far this season.

The 28-year-old was brilliant against West Ham this evening, as Tottenham eased past their London rivals 4-1 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Former West Ham prospect Ephraim, who is without a club at the moment, was impressed with Alderweireld’s performance against the Hammers.

Former Queens Park Rangers forward Rodney Marsh was also watching the game, and this was his reaction to Spurs’ performance:

Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 13 matches, just two points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
