Southampton fans were disappointed by a number of performers on Saturday afternoon. Manager Ronald Koeman said he couldn't recognise his Saints side and Stoke City took full advantage as Mark Hughes' men left St Mary's with all three points.
On the list of performers who frustrated were the likes of Ryan Bertrand, Cedric Soares and more.
Graziano Pelle caught the eye of a few for the wrong reasons, too, however. Yes, the Italian had a strong case for a penalty. But he didn't have a strong case for much else against Stoke, which disappointed supporters considering what an important player the forward usually is for the Saints.
Pelle also received a late booking for kicking the ball away, leaving him suspended for Southampton's Premier League clash against Manchester City. That certainly annoyed fans...
The Stoke result comes as a blow for Koeman and co, then, just as the South Coast side started to show the form of last season. It shouldn't be too disparaging but it will no doubt frustrate. Here's how Southampton fans reacted on Twitter to Pelle's performance in particular:
Fonte, Bertrand, Wanyama, Pelle, Tadic & Long had west super mares #saintsfc— Sam Ridout (@sridout92) November 21, 2015
Quite a few didn't fancy it today, Pelle for one #saintsfc— Glen de la Cour (@L1minus10) November 21, 2015
No Pelle next week because of a stupid handball. Should lose a weeks wages for a pathetic yellow #saintsfc— Hayden Collins (@HaydenCollins94) November 21, 2015
A bit worrying that when the Pelle/Tadic/Mane trio is broken up we don't look half as dangerous going forward #saintsfc— Matt Ashley (@MattAshley1) November 21, 2015
Pelle banned for Man City! How bloody stupid of him at the end, makes you wonder if he wanted some time off #saintsfc— Martin Rogers (@MartinRog01) November 21, 2015
