Huge game at The Etihad!! Are Liverpool good enough to beat Manchester City??? https://t.co/rZZt9huaG2— Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) noviembre 20, 2015
Popular pundit Robbie Savage has said on BreatheSport that Manchester City will hand Jurgen Klopp his first away defeat as Liverpool boss, as he has backed the hosts to win at the Etihad Stadium.
The Reds have improved under Klopp’s guidance, securing victories in the Europa League and League Cup as well as defeating Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
However, his undefeated reign came to an end two weeks ago with a 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace, and now he travels to the current Premier League leaders looking for a response from his players.
Savage expects a high-energy game between the two but feels the hosts will have enough on the day.
“It’s a massive game for City. I don’t think Klopp ever lost to City as manager of Borussia Dortmund, so I think this will be his first defeat,” Savage explained on BreatheSport.
“It’s OK playing a high intensity and pressing the ball, but it’s what you do with the ball when you get it.
"Will they be too tired when they get it and to have that creative spark in the middle of the park? I’m going with a Man City win.”
Liverpool’s downfall at present is not what they do without the ball, but the ability to capitalise when they pressure their opponents into giving the ball away in dangerous areas.
The Reds have created an abundance of chances in their last few games, but scoring goals has been a major problem for them all season and against City they won’t create too many opportunities.
In Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge the Merseyside outfit have renowned scorers, but in their absence they’ve looked toothless upfront with a distinct lack of goals from deep.
Adam Lallana, Jordon Ibe and Roberto Firmino must contribute more in terms of goals.
