John Arne Riise on Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure

Dejan Lovren

Liverpool defeated Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

John Arne Riise has taken to social networking site Twitter to suggest that Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is a better player now than he was last season.

Riise, a former Liverpool defender himself, made the comments following the Reds’ 4-1 victory over Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Croatia international centre-back started the Premier League game and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Lovren took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 75%, won 50% of his tackles and 75% of his headers, and made five interceptions, eight headers and two blocks.

Riise was seemingly impressed with the performance of the 26-year-old and has suggested that he looks more confident this season that he did during the 2014-15 campaign.

Riise was also asked by a follower on Twitter about the future of centre-back Kolo Toure at Liverpool.

Liverpool are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 20 points from 13 matches, six points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
