The Bhoys faithful aren't best pleased with the Celtic duo.
Indeed, after Saturday afternoon's 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock, questions were asked on Twitter about the duo and whether they will ever come good at Parkhead.
Mackay-Steven made an impressive start to life at Celtic but seems to be in reverse gear. The 25-year-old looks as though he has lost confidence and his lack of creativity won't help the Bhoys if he can't make a difference in the Scottish Premiership, let alone Europe.
The same applies for Ciftci, except for the fact he has arguably not shown any promise to start with - as opposed to his team-mate.
And Ronny Deila's position won't be helped after a goalless draw domestically. The Norwegian was backed by chief executive Peter Lawwell recently but his failures in Europe have been masked by recent domestic dominance.
Celtic weren't very dominant against Kilmarnock, though, and that certainly won't help confidence ahead of the huge Europa League clash against Ajax that's coming up.
Here's how Bhoys fans reacted on Twitter... being particularly critical of Mackay-Steven and Ciftci:
Today I realised Ciftci is not a Celtic player. Doesn't have the mentality to play for us. GMS the same. Just not Celtic class.— Eeramacaroonbar (@Eeramacaroonbar) November 21, 2015
@Nflbtc Ineffective period.Players like GMS and the big Turk shouldn't be anywhere near a Celtic jersey.— minkster1 (@minkster36) November 21, 2015
Armstrong (never a winger) looking like another £2m Celtic flop. His wee mate GMS ain't any better. Impressed with Simunovic— Primo Blanco (@Toddybhoy) November 21, 2015
Mind GMS used to take on players n beat them for fun then he came to celtic I think we'd make messi go backwards— kerryootkerryon (@kezd08) November 21, 2015
Nadir Ciftci will never make it at Celtic.— Daryl (@Bhoy___) November 21, 2015
@dab24156 Agree 100%. Ciftci proving not 2 b Celtic quality. GMS v. low on confidence & appearing 2 b going backwards. I also like Armstrong— PICKLE$ (@P12KLS) November 21, 2015
