West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis believes that Arsenal have a wonderful chance of winning the Premier League title this season if they make one or two more additions in January, the Daily Mail reports.
The Gunners head into their clash at The Hawthorns level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City, having won eight and drawn two of their 12 league games to date.
Many have predicted that this season is Arsenal’s best shot at the title in years, but mounting injuries have the potential to derail them as they look short of options upfront.
Speaking ahead of their clash on Saturday, Baggies boss Tony Pulis said Arsene Wenger’s men have a genuine chance of winning the title, but he feels that they need more additions in January.
“They have a genuine chance to win the title. Other years I thought they didn’t have the depth or experience, or just what it takes,” the former Stoke City boss is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
“By winning trophies, two FA Cups in a row, it has given that group the smell of winning. You can see they really want to take it on. If Arsene adds one or two in the window I think they have a wonderful chance.”
Areas to strengthen
Arsenal have looked a formidable force at times this season, but injuries to a couple of key players could really hinder their chances of being crowned champions come May.
Laurent Koscielny is vitally important, and his absence in the League Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday was notable as the Championship side took advantage of a severely weakened backline.
But the French international isn’t the only standout player with such importance. Francis Coquelin doesn’t have much competition either and a new wide forward would also be a welcome addition in January.
