Khazri, currently in his second season with Bordeaux, is a 24-year-old playmaker. A 20-capped Tunisian international, he has scored eight goals at international level, and has been one of the stars of Ligue 1 this season.
12 games have brought a return of four goals and five assists, and he currently ranks second in the entire division for key passes played per game. He also holds solid statistics in dribbling, pass completion and shots taken, and Khazri seems to have gone under the radar this term.
Despite his impressive campaign, few clubs have been linked with him, and the Magpies are hoping to steal in ahead of potential rivals and sign the playmaker in January.
Khazri represents all that Newcastle are looking for in signings, being younger than 26, available for a fairly cheap price, and possessing a large future sell on value.
He has never impressed outside of France, but has a solid record at international level, and has been playing well in Europe. These appearances suggest he could cut it in a higher quality league, and the Magpies are certainly impressed with him.
There is no indication that Newcastle are as yet readying a bid for Khazri, but if he continues to impress as he has been, a January move is expected.
