“City are nine points clear of Liverpool in the Premier League and are well ahead of them in terms of the quality of their squad. But if Philippe Coutinho - the match winner at Chelsea - or Sturridge can produce a bit of magic then Liverpool can give their hopes of finishing in the top four a boost,” the Englishman wrote on Skysports.com. “For me, I see it being a tight game and finishing a draw.”
Liverpool will head into the encounter at the Etihad Stadium on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.
The loss to Palace just before the two-week international break brought to an end the Reds’ three-match winning run in all competitions.
The defeat was also Jurgen Klopp’s first since he replaced Brendan Rodgers as the Liverpool manger last month.
The Merseyside outfit are 10th in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from 12 matches.
Meanwhile, City currently find themselves at the top of the standings with 26 points from 12 games.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are in good form at the moment, and they will be expected by many to pick up all three points against Liverpool on Saturday.
