Inner arrived at Leicester this summer to much fanfare, but his agent has told TMW that a potential exit in January could be in the pipeline due to how little the Swiss midfielder has played this term.
Dino Lamberti, Inler’s agent, said: “Soon I will talk with Leicester to discuss a possible loan deal, since he signed last summer a three-year contract. [He needs one] because he is the captain of Switzerland.”
Inler is Switzerland’s captain, and needs to be playing regularly this season if he is to lead his country to Euro 2016 in France next summer.
His signing was lauded over the summer, with many surprised the Foxes could bring in a player of Inler’s calibre, but he has been an unfortunate victim of circumstance.
Due to the form Leicester have shown this season, the 31-year-old has struggled to break into the side, playing only three Premier League games. He has not featured in the league since the middle of September, and it is hard to see Inler playing whilst the Foxes continue to pick up results.
His agent has admitted that a loan move may have to be agreed in January, so as to ensure that the midfielder is playing every week ahead of the Euros. There are no plans for a permanent transfer, as Inler agreed a three-year contract just months ago, but his exit from the King Power Stadium in January would not be a surprise.
