Could Federico Mancuello be West Brom's next Claudio Yacob?

The Argentine international is available for nothing in the new year.

In the summer of 2012 West Bromwich Albion pulled off a transfer coup with the arrival of Argentine midfielder Claudio Yacob.

The combative midfield operator with an eye for a wonderful pass had previously been shining at boyhood club Racing Club and had also represented Argentina - even scoring against Ecuador.

He has had his troubles at The Hawthorns, but on his day there are not many better players in his position in the Premier League.

West Brom would be hard pushed to find such a gem again.

Yet, there is one man out there they are said to be considering.

Federico Mancuello was linked with five Premier League clubs by Calciomercato earlier in the year, West Brom being one of them.

The playmaker is currently with Independiente and has caught the eye for the Argentine national team. The 26-year-old made his Albiceleste debut in March and scored a stunning free-kick against El Salvador to introduce himself to the Argentine fold in style.

A gifted passer and striker of the ball, he is a more attacking option than Yacob but the pair of them could form an excellent partnership.

The best bit about him, he is available for free in the summer.

Mancuello really could be the next Yacob.
