West Ham ace Mauro Zarate gives verdict on Mauricio Pochettino ahead of Tottenham clash

Mauro Zarate has called Mauricio Pochettino a 'good manager'.

West Ham United striker Mauro Zarate has told the club's official website that he is looking forward to facing Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

The Argentine forward could come in to the Hammers team this weekend with Dimitri Payet out for three months with an ankle injury, and the game against Spurs promises to be a fierce London derby.

With both teams flying high in the Premier League right now, both Mauricio Pochettino and Slaven Bilic will be looking for all three points as their teams lock horns at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino has earned plenty of plaudits for the way his Tottenham team have played this season, having lost just one Premier League game so far - and that came all the way back on the opening day of the season against Manchester United.

With youngsters such as Eric Dier and Dele Ali thriving in the Spurs team, Pochettino is earning a reputation as a manager who can develop top prospects into first-team stars, as he showed with Harry Kane's rise to stardom last season.

After months of praise, Pochettino has earned more plaudits today, with his compatriot Zarate telling the West Ham official website that he believes Pochettino is a 'good manager', and is doing well this season - but noted that West Ham have top players too, making this a potentially great match.

"We need to win again and this is a perfect match for us because it’s a derby and it’s away, so I think we have to do the perfect match to win," said Zarate. "Obviously I know – we all know – how important this is to the fans. They always want us to win against Tottenham and we will do our best to win the match."

"I know Pochettino and also [Tottenham defender Federico] Fazio, as we played together when we won the Under-20 World Cup [in 2007]. Pochettino is a good manager and is doing really well. They have many good players and we have many good players, so it will be a nice match," he added.
