Report: Newcastle United to loan out Freddie Woodman again

Newcastle United are reportedly set to allow Freddie Woodman to depart St. James' Park temporarily, with Karl Darlow returning to fitness.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United will loan out Freddie Woodman in the near future.

Newcastle sent Woodman out on loan to Crawley Town in the early part of the season, but they recalled him as injury struck.

With Karl Darlow and Tim Krul on the sidelines, Newcastle were short of cover in goal, and they felt that they needed the 18-year-old back in their squad.

However, with Darlow now on the verge of returning to fitness, it seems that Woodman could be in line to depart St. James’ Park again.

Woodman had been hopig to get a chance in Newcastle’s first-team, but he has had to play second fiddle since returning to Tyneside.

The form of Rob Elliot has kept him out of the first-team set-up, and the Magpies clearly feel that his development would be best served by getting regular action.

While at Crawley Town, Woodman was earning rave reviews – so it could be that clubs from a higher level bid to take him, when he does become available again.
