Remi Garde drops tactical hint ahead of Aston Villa's match against Everton

Aston Villa take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Remi Garde has hinted on Aston Villa’s official website that he could spring a tactical surprise against Everton at the weekend.

Garde has been familiarising himself with Everton over the international break, and he he has been impressed by what he has seen from the Toffees.

The French manager admires how well they keep possession, but he is hoping to catch them off guard on Saturday.

“Maybe we can create a surprise,” Garde suggested.

“This is a team who like to pass. They like to keep the ball. They like to play with width on the pitch. It's not direct play.

“They play on the counter-attack have good passers like [Gareth] Barry and Barkley and the speed of [Romelu] Lukaku and [Gerard] Deulofeu, of course, a lot of quality players.

“We're going to try and give them some problems.”

Villa will need to improve if they are to get the three points at Goodison Park, as they have been in dire form throughout the campaign so far.

The Claret and Blues have not won for 11 league matches, and a trip to Goodison Park is sure to be a very tough test.

Everton have been in good form throughout the campaign to date, and they are unbeaten in their last three matches.

Villa will know the importance of getting a result on Merseyside, as they could slip as many as eight points adrift of safety by the end of the weekend if they are defeated.
