But the Togo forward has not been offered a shock return to the club.

Emmanuel Adebayor has been snapped playing football in a full Tottenham Hotspur kist once again, despite being released by the club.

But this is not a shock u-turn from Mauricio Pochettino - rather Adebayor doing his bit for his SEA Foundation in his native Togo.

The picture was posted by the team_adebayor Instagram account.

His foundation aims to fund and offer support to youth projects in his native Togo and Africa.

Adebayor was finally released by Tottenham Hotspur in September. The Togo striker had been told by Mauricio Pochettino that his services were no longer required at White Hart Lane – but failed to negotiate a move away from the club during the transfer window.

His release allows him to find a new club to begin his recovery from his Tottenham spell, but not a Premier League club just yet. As Adebayor was still registered as a Tottenham player when the transfer window shut, he cannot join another Premier League team until January. He has been linked with the likes of Watford and Aston Villa.
