Buxton has been training hard over the international break, as he looks to make his return from an injury which has kept him out all season.
The central-defender is yet to play under Clement’s stewardship, and the 43-year-old is keen to get Buxton back up to speed as quickly as possible.
Clement: "I had a good chat with Jake Buxton this week. He will continue to train with the first team and get more match time with the U21s"— Derby County (@dcfcofficial) November 19, 2015
Buxton has been a key man for Derby over the past few seasons, but his task of breaking back into the first-team this season looks like a tough one.
The Rams have been formidable over the campaign so far, and their defensive strength has provided the basis of their success.
Derby have conceded just 11 times in their opening 16 matches in the Championship, with Richard Keogh and Jason Shackhell forming an impressive partnership at the heart of their defence.
Derby’s next match comes against Cardiff City at the weekend, but it seems unlikely that Buxton will play any part in the contest, following Clement’s comments on Thursday.
