Everton will take on Villa at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and former Liverpool star Owen has backed the hosts to pick up all three points.
“I take Everton to win 2-0, 2-1 or 1-0 at Goodison Park,” the former Manchester United striker wrote on Colossusbets.com. “To be fair to Villa, new manager Remi Garde did look as though he made a difference when his side drew 0-0 with Man City before the international break.
“And, remarkably, that was their first point since August, which gives you some idea of how far they had fallen since that win on the opening day of the season at Bournemouth.
“It could be that they continue to improve as the manager beds in, but I am struggling to see anything other than an Everton win here. It may not be as comprehensive as their 3-0 win in this fixture last season but I think they’ll get the job done.”
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Everton will head into the game as favourites and the home fans will expect a comfortable win.
Villa are struggling to score goals and are defensively weak, which suggests that the Toffees will be able to breach their backline.
However, Roberto Martinez’s side should not get complacent, as the Villans can make it tough for them if they score an early goal at Goodison Park.
Everton are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with 17 points from 12 matches, as many as seven points behind fourth-place Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Villa currently find themselves at the bottom of the standings with just five points from 12 games, five points behind 17th-place Newcastle United.
