Joao has been a revelation since signing for Wednesday during the summer transfer window, and he is starting to attract plenty of attention.
The 21-year-old forward received his first two caps for Portugal over the international break, while The Sun ran reports that Everton are planning to bid for the striker in January.
And Hunt believes his teammate would be a hit in the Premier League, despite his inexperience.
“It’s still very early days and Lucas has got a lot to learn but his potential is massive and I’m happy he has been capped by his country as that is an amazing achievement,” the defender said.
“He potentially can go all the way. He has got absolutely everything.
“Lucas is a big, physical striker and has great feet for a such big lad. He is athletic, strong and quick. His game has suited English football down to the ground and I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw him playing at the top for a very long time.”
Joao’s power and pace has made him a nightmare for Championship defences to deal with, and he has rapidly established his place as Wednesday’s main man up front.
Wednesday midfielder Jose Semedo recently admitted to BBC Sport that he would be surprised if Joao was at Hillsborough for much longer, such is his teammate’s talent.
Joao has scored four times in his first 18 matches for the Owls, with his form one of the major reasons behind the Yorkshire outfit’s impressive start to the season.
