Newcastle United are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has suggested to The Chronicle that the team’s problem has been creating chances.

“Sometimes we need some luck,” the 29-year-old told The Chronicle. “We have played well in the last few games but we don’t have chances to score.”

Newcastle have been in disappointing form so far this campaign and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Magpies are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with just 10 points from 12 matches, only two points above the relegation zone.

Steve McClaren’s side have scored 22 goals and created 93 chances in 13 league games s far this campaign.

Tiote, who has been on the books of Newcastle since 2010, has struggled for playing time and has featured in only seven Premier League games this term.

The Ivory Coast international defensive midfielder has created two chances, has a pass accuracy of 86%, and has won nine headers, two dribbles and six tackles.

The Magpies will take on Leicester City at St. James’ Park in the league on Saturday afternoon.
