The West Bromwich Albion striker has been impressing in training.
The 22-year-old saw a deadline-day move to Tottenham Hotspur fail to materialise despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side making a number of late bids for the player, but having got over that disappointment it seems Berahino is now ready to up his game at The Hawthorns.
So far this season the young striker has scored three goals in 10 appearances for West Brom, but he appears to have used the latest international break to really work on his fitness.
In quotes published by the Mirror, Garner said, “Tuesday’s session, that’s the best I’ve seen Saido in training since I’ve come to the club. He looked really sharp, he looked hungry and he was excellent.
“He was in all of last week; he didn’t have any days off so he trained every day.”
That shows just how much Berahino wants to remain in the West Brom team – at least for now – and it will be interesting to see if his improved work ethic sees him rewarded with both starts and goals in the weeks ahead.
Next up for West Brom is a home match against Arsenal on Saturday and Tony Pulis will want his players to return fit and firing for that one.
