Video: 5 Kenny Miller goals that show why Rangers renewed his contract

With Glasgow Rangers opting to renew Kenny Miller’s contract, here are five goals that demonstrate why the predatory goal poacher is so effective.

When Kenny Miller put pen to paper on a new one-year contract with Glasgow Rangers, no one was more delighted about the 35-year-old’s decision to remain at Ibrox than manager Mark Warburton.

For one thing, the veteran striker has been doing some excellent coaching work with the Gers’ Under-20 side, working alongside the youth team’s current manager Ian Durrant.

But for Warburton, Miller’s contribution has gone far beyond the coaching side of things.

In fact, the former Brentford boss is keen to stress one thing in particular: that the experienced goal poacher is an integral part of the first team picture.

“Kenny is very much part of our plans going forward, while he has a very bright future as a coach this is a contract he has earned as player,” he told the official Rangers website.

“He’s played a key role in terms of his attitude, performances and in a mentoring role to the younger players.”

With some 200 appearances for the Light Blues to his name, Miller has plenty in the way of great memories when it comes to his time with Rangers.

And while some things may have changed with the passing of time, one thing remains intact: his ability to be in the right place, at the right time to score for the Gers.

Take this fine finish in a rout of Hibs, which was actually much harder to pull off than it looks...

And if there is one thing Kenny loves, it's scoring against The Cabbage, as this slotted effort from last season attests...

Sometimes Miller is just there to put the cherry on top of a lovely team move, like this simple, yet somehow sublime, tap-in against Alloa...

And whatever the scenario, he always seems to pop up in the right place at the right time, gambling on balls, like this one against Peterhead, coming his way.

And while it's not always pretty, Miller's goals get the job done where Rangers would otherwise fail to find the net.

Here's to plenty more to come in 2016 and beyond!
