Nigeria U17 international Kelechi Nwakali has said he would love to join Arsenal when pressed on their reported interest in his services, the Daily Star quote.
The 17-year-old star has been making quite a name for himself following his superb performances during Nigeria’s recent U17 World Cup victory in Chile.
The talented midfielder, predominantly featuring as a number 10, won the player of the tournament award as the Flying Eagles won six of their seven matches on route to lifting the trophy.
Nwakali’s presence and influence in the team has attracted interest from the Premier League, where Arsenal Chelsea and Manchester City have all been credited with holding an interest.
On his prospects of moving to England, the young midfielder appeared excited as he made his intentions clear how a switch to the Emirates Stadium would be his preference.
"I would love to play for Arsenal. They are the Premier League club I will like to play for them because they play the best football in the world,” he told MTNFootball which was quoted by the Daily Star.
Nwakali’s brother Chidiebere currently plies his trade in England, as he is on the books of Manchester City, joining fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho in seeking a way through to the first-team.
The Gunners have a proud tradition of singing youth players and developing them accordingly, therefore it comes as little surprise when youngsters speak of their fondness for the club.
Nwakali has a bright future, and Arsenal would be wise to offer him a chance to progress in North London.
