The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder could not fire his nation to Euro 2016.

Sweden will be at the European Championships in France next summer after getting the better over their rivals Denmark in the play-offs.

It was of course a stunning performance from Sweden's star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic that did the damage.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker scored twice in Denmark last night to send them on their way, despite the best efforts of Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen.

He toiled throughout the match but the luck of the green was simply not with him.

He almost scored in the game. The Tottenham talisman fired in a close range half-volley but it deflected off of Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson before being kept out by Andreas Isaakson.

Denmark did get back in the game and Eriksen scored an assist. His corner was headed home by Werder Bremen defender Jannik Vestergaard in the 90th minute.

However Denmark left things too late for a memorable comeback and the Tottenham star will not be at the Euros next summer.
