The former Tottenham Hotspur star is a big fan of the England defender.
Last night England took on France at Wembley and a couple of players really stood out.
The Toffees defender brings a dynamic that England do not have with any of their other defenders.
Stones put in an excellent performance and the Everton man certainly caught the eye of one former Tottenham player.
Argentine legend Ossie Ardiles posted a series of tweets about the game today and called Stones the best young defender in the world. He went even further, to say he is simply one of the best:
very bright. Young, energetic, vibrant, full of talent. Stones: I would say the most promising centrehalf in the world... However...— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) November 18, 2015
This is not fair to him: Right now: What a wonderful player. Then, the Tottenham boys: Eric Dyer: In my opinion, the best Spurs player so ..— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) November 18, 2015
Stones' performance rightly gained plaudits. The Everton man is in competition with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka for the centre-back role with England but he is a must starter.
None of the other names in that list are as comfortable on the ball as the Everton talent and that was a glaring difference between the England performance against Spain and the one against France.
Stones is slowly marking himself down for a starting role at Euro 2016.
