Nir Bitton should take a lesson from Adam Matthews before deciding upon Sunderland move

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has been linked with a move to Sunderland.

Sunderland have been linked with making a swoop for Israeli international midfielder Nir Bitton by the Sunderland Echo, but there is one player Bitton should talk to before deciding whether to move to the Stadium of Light.

The Celtic star has been one of the best performing players in Scottish football this season, and it is no surprise that Sunderland want to take him to the Premier League.

However, it was the Black Cats who signed Adam Matthews from Celtic over the summer, and his career has not progressed in the manner expected.

Although his time at the Stadium of Light has been disrupted by injury, Matthews has managed just one game in the Premier League, and one League Cup fixture. He has not played since August, and a report in the Sun has claimed that Sam Allardyce is ready to sell the full-back in January.

This is hardly how many expected his career to progress on Wearside, and Bitton should be worried about his own career if he was to move to Sunderland.

Bitton is good enough to play for this Sunderland team, and he would be a good signing if Allardyce could bring him in. However, everyone was saying the same thing about Matthews when he joined, and Bitton should clearly assess his future, and talk to Matthews, before deciding whether to leave Celtic.
